DARE TO INCLUDE

In a world that often emphasises our differences, the topic of inclusion holds profound significance for me. Having changed schools every three years during my childhood, I understand intimately the longing to feel included – a journey that was far from easy. Today, I stand as an advocate for fostering inclusive spaces, driven by my personal experiences and my unwavering belief in the power of embracing diversity.

I have invited DEI Strategist Dethra Giles to join me in this chapter to craft dares that encourage us to step outside our comfort zones and to champion inclusivity.

NOTE: Each chapter includes 4 Topics, 4 Dares, 2 Truth Question, a Double-Dare and a Triple-Dare. Here is a sneak-peek from Dare to Include:

MOVE BEYOND ALLYSHIP TO ALLEGIANCE

Embrace innovation to ignite action. By trailblazing innovation, you inspire creativity and experimentation in others. Dare to explore new approaches and be an innovator who sparks action towards meaningful outcomes.

I DARE YOU:

A very common call to action is for people who may not be members of a historically excluded community to be allies. Underrepresented communities need far more than just allyship; they need active allegiance from individuals and institutions committed to standing by their side in the fight for justice and equal rights.

TRUTH

How could you use your voice and platform to amplify underrepresented voices?

DOUBLE-DARE

Design an engaging Unconscious Bias Workshop, inspired by the topics and dares in this chapter. Craft activities that raise awareness, encourage self-reflection, and challenge preconceived notions.

Once completed, challenge a colleague to incorporate your workshop into their sessions, expanding its impact. Together, let’s double-dare each other to spark meaningful dialogue, dismantle biases, and foster inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and respected.
